In the realm of expectation, Juneau doesn't even fall in that category. I really couldn't have anticipated the amount of beauty the city and borough offer.

The borough stretches for miles and miles in most directions, with the exception being the ice field, which feeds the various glaciers like the Mendhenhall in the Valley.

* How much I'd love getting up at 7 a.m. every morning to go into work at 9 a.m. Really I love getting off work around 630-6 p.m., because it gives me a good solid amount of daylight (in the summer) to enjoy what Juneau has to offer. While I enjoyed the flexible shift that I had at the Quad-City Times, having a job that is primarily 9-6 is pretty wonderful.

* Most everything in downtown is walking distance: Work is a short five-minute walk downhill. The grocery store and small Ace Hardware is just a few more steps away. Many of the restaurants and places to hang out are all located downtown, so it makes it easy to meet up with people or grab a bite to eat.
