Myspace, taking the bad with the good

I was pretty upset when MySpace decided to revamp their website. I'm not a frequent logger-inner of MySpace but the one time I did in the last three months I noticed a pretty disheartening realization.

MySpace had deleted all my old photos. I could have cared less about my favorites getting killed or the awesome music mixes I had created.

Losing all those photos was like getting stabbed in the chest. I lost a lot of photos from early in my roller derby career and there wasn't any way of getting them back.

Thankfully, MySpace restored all the photos and now I'll be going through the long, arduous process of converting all those photos over to Facebook as well as downloading them for my own personal archives.

Twitter, you're my favorite
Lee Local (@leelocal) which is our e-commerce/telemarketing wing posted a link on Twitter saying that more people are favoriting tweets. Favorite works much like Facebook's Like status, but is a little more private and allows user to show that they either do Like something or to save it for later (in the list of your Favorites) so that you can go back to the tweet, read it later and/or even repost. it.

Do you Youtube?
We're making the transition from VMIX (a kind of archaic video archiving site) to YouTube. Hopefully that means more training opportunities in the future, as well as a renewed emphasis on video, which is something I've been missing a ton).

I managed to get about four or five people signed up for their own YouTube accounts, and our big trial period (Bix 7 weekend) really helped us work out the kinks in our process.

Hopefully more people in our newsroom find inspiration in this renewed interest in videos.
